Despite so much hype and publicity we do not get much information about he recommended dosage of Resveratrol. Reputed manufacturers provide this information about the dosage but there is a good no. of supplements without any information about dosage. If you get the instructions about the dosage, try to follow it religiously.
However if there are no instructions, a few things should be kept in mind before taking Resveratrol.
The dosages are dependent on your weight and overall health. As a standard dose 4.9mg per kg of your weight is sufficient. As the usage of Resveratrol are too many, like curing constipation in which case the dosage should not exceed 4.48 mg per day. These are just guidelines as no standard dosage chart has been agreed upon.
The Resveratrol supplements which are available on the market can be taken up to 200mg per day. During experiments, consumption of up to 500 mg of Resveratrol per day does not show any side effect. However, in real life conditions consumption Resveratrol in excess of 500mg per day can cause diarrhea, anemia and dehydration. In a standard bottle of red wine up to 12.5 mg of Resveratrol is found which is good enough for regular consumption. However for consuming it in the form of capsule or juice, up to 50 mg per is acceptable.
Going for standard capsules is always a safe option rather than juice because you do not have to bother about the quantity. Simply take a pill and go about your work. After sometime you can increase the dosage to twice a day. It is not easy with juice supplement as you tend to drink more than recommended dosage. If you take juice, it is advisable to keep in mind the quantity you consume.
It goes without saying that medical advice is needed if you are on some other kind of medication, as it may sometimes react with different combination of medicines.
